Happy to help explain more! I've chosen these ingredients because they are simple, natural, and non-toxic! I want to make my soap for everyone, whether you have allergies or sensitivities to scents, pets or babies you care for that you want to protect; I want my products to be safe and trustworthy. To break down their more complicated official names, I use aluminum-free baking soda, washing soda/soda ash: (a more alkaline version of baking soda) Epsom salt, and organic sea salt (non-iodized). Baking soda and washing soda help deodorize, balance Ph, soften water, and fight stains of all kinds. The salts both help soften hard water, improve soap lather and rinsing, loosen and lift stains (especially when applied directly before a wash!) They break down grime, reduce bleeding and fading of fabric dyes, and work as mild deodorizers as well. All in all these are powerful cleaning ingredients for our soap base. For our essential oils use 100% pure English Lavender, Eucalyptus Globulus, and Sweet Orange essential oils. These oils each play a unique role in aiding cleaning power and deodorizing power and they are antibacterial in nature. There's a little more information about the specific functions of each oil in our product descriptions, but please feel free to reach out with any additional questions about any of our ingredients!

Great question! The obvious choice is our Unscented version, as it is completely pet friendly / free of any fragrance. However, some pet households may need the extra deodorizing power of essential oils- in which case I recommend the Lavender option. In my research, it is safe to use around pets as long as ingestion is not permitted, so store with caution in your pet household and use when they are not around to be extra safe. Our scents do wash out in your wash cycle, but I can't promise that the compounds of the oil themselves will wash out completely, so take that into consideration when making your decision about which soap is best for your household.

I'm happy to answer that for you! Emma Louise Naturals is proud to ship to most provinces within Canada. At this time we are not shipping internationally, although we hope to someday! We offer the best rates we can for shipping, although being a small business we encourage pickup for local orders when possible. We are based in Chestermere Alberta and offer meetups and delivery within the greater Calgary area as well as lower shipping rates within Alberta. If you live out of province, shipping rates will be a lot higher, because our packages do have some weight to them (close to 1kg/bag), but we offer discounted shipping for larger orders, so we recommend getting 3 bags at a time to make it worth it for both you and us. Trust me, you'll use it up! Laundry detergent is one of those things that it's great to have a stock of. Plus it gives you the opportunity to try out different versions and see which one you like the best!
