I grew up like most people do, except that my mom had a particular interest in natural medicine, and for the first years of my life, I remember not being allowed to eat a lot of foods that other kids were eating as she opted for healthier options. But overall, we shopped at grocery stores for our food, we bought the products that most people bought; the shampoos, the skincare products, the laundry detergents.

 

It wasn’t until I got married in 2024 that I had what I like to call a health revolution. My husband started on this journey long before meeting me, but a lot of things we learned together. It turns out, most of the things we are used to buying, eating, and using on a daily basis, contain toxic ingredients that can have severe effects on our health. Laundry detergent is actually one of the worst offenders. Phosphates, Dioxane, Sodium laureth sulfate, Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs), Chlorine bleach, Formaldehyde, artificial dyes and fragrances. These ingredients and more can cause hormone disruptions, damage to your kidneys, liver, nervous system, skin allergies and irritations, and they can even contribute to cancer.

 

I was shocked at what I discovered, having gone so long trusting that the products being sold to us were proven to be safe, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I knew then I had to make a change for myself and my home. So, this is where it all began for me; with laundry detergent. I did some research on the best and most effective natural ingredients to make laundry soap and when I found the right combination, not only did it work effectively on my clothes leaving them smelling clean and fresh, but I knew I could trust the 4-5 natural ingredients in it. After using this homemade soap for months, my passion grew to share it with others, and that is where Emma Louise Naturals began. I know in my heart that while it’s only starting with laundry powder, it will soon grow to be so much more.
